I use the FUSION ZRi tire. Its quiet, has decent traction AND has a treadware rating 300+

The are also relatively inexpensive compared to others. I put over 35k miles on my front set I just had to replace. I got the same tire brand with 10mm reduction in width. NO MORE RUB!

Well Im trying to get suggestions from members here whove had experience with the tires. The dealership said only certain pattern tires are good for the IS. Most people recommend the michelin.

the dealership is also full of excrement.....michelin ps2's?

those are gonna cost you anywhere from 350 - 400 a tire installed.

I just dont think they are worth it....especially with a wear rating of 220 AA A. You'll be replacing them in 20k miles tops.

Yeah, cheap tires are the way to go. You certainly wouldn't want to spend too much money on the one part connecting your car to the pavement...the only part responsible for stopping the car or negotiating a turn.

Wow.

You bought a Lexus and expected maintenance at the dealer to be cheap? What were you thinking?

Michelin tires are the best. Anything else is playing catch up. How much do you value being able to stop and turn? If you drive like grandma, get the same tires the rental car companies do. They last forever and are very cheap. They also slide in the rain (ask my wife about this...) and handle like crap.

Wear ratings have little to do with how long a set of tires will last YOUR driving. My Bridgestone RE050As on the F are rated at 140 wear. I put over 30k miles on the rears including three weekends at the track doing road racing, and they STILL had legal tread on them when I took them off.

Saying PS2s will wear out in 20k miles is foolish. If you drive them in a sane fashion and keep them properly inflated they'll last 30k - 35k miles.

If you want to buy no-name brands, knock yourself out. Just don't expect them to deliver under duress. They won't.

While I agree with Lance that the PS2s are great tires, the Hankooks perform better overall, are quieter, last longer, and cost half the price.

I'm also look at some tires for the fronts.

Whomever had the car before me put some no-name brand tire on the fronts, and they are absolutely awful. The tread on one of my front tires is wearing unevenly and it makes a God-awful noise while driving as the tire rotates on uneven tread. The only reason I haven't replaced them yet is that they still have significant tread left on them, and I don't want to waste them.

I'll look at the Hankook and some Michelin's next.

Thanx for the reply guys. Ill look into buying the Hankooks but which ones would pair up with my rear stock 18 wheels? I might as well get a set for when my fronts go out too.

Damn your lucky wish!! However, Id rather just go with shocks instead of coils. Im looking for the best bang/performance/value for shocks so I can take these off since the left side is blown... Sux mine werent under warranty still but it prob wouldnt have been covered since I got aftermarket springs..

Guys do you think the install shop did a bad job & this could have resulted in the stock shock blowing?

The Hankooks do not come in my rim size of 225/40R18 or 24/40R18 rear....??? Which should I go with since they dont..

Michelin tires being the best would be your opinion and not fact, and wear ratings have EVERYTHING to do with how long they will last. wtf kind of answer is that? Of course, a higher wear rating tire will last longer than a lower tread rating tire on the same driver using the same driving patterns.
What a ridiculous response.

again.... buying a less expensive tire with a zr rating and higher than 300 tread rating will yield you better life than the exact same situation on the ps2. In the same situation i just quoted you, the fuzion (or any less expensive tire rated similarly) would last to 50k miles. So now what?

What tires are you recommending 06? Right now I have the Eagle F1 A/S & the rear last me only 15k when the tire rating was pretty good, not happy with this at all & I want to change the tire brand & hopefully get something that can last me 25k or more. Maybe Lobux meant it depends on your driving (aggressive/ect) how long the tire lasts but then again it also depends on tire tread rating & your driving, both are factors.

My suggestion would be to get a zr rated tire at the price you want to pay. Unless you're trying to run from the cops everyday, a 300 + treadware rating zr tire will perform in every aspect imaginable in real world driving.

$400 is just to much to justify the "benefits" of any street tire.

I totally agree 06. Which would be your top picks that have served you well over the yrs & you have experience with at a reasonable price?

I think you'll like the Hankook Ventus V12. Those are definitely the tires I'll be using next.
