I purchased the sirius tuner kit from sewell way back in 2007 and its that time to renew my sirius subscription and I think i might switch to the XM side of it only because the sirius tuner sucks. It cuts out all the time, and I cant take it anymore. Ive read that the tuner is a older generation and the newer ones lock onto the signal better. Is there an updated tuner that I can buy for this kit or am i better off just getting the XM tuner?

I would just get the XM tuner. There is something about the actual XM infastructure that provides much better reception. Since the good content is available on both these days, I'd go with XM hardware.
Before I got my IS, I had a Sirius Stiletto portable. It died and they didnt make them anymore, I had no choice but to get an XM portable. The live reception on the Stiletto was useless, even with the ugly headphones with antenna built in. The XM radio gets great reception.
The XM tuner built into the 2010 IS250 is awesome -- I've never heard it cut out.
