I haven't done this to my newer IS yet, but when backing the headlights...
A) use a cookie sheet to avoid the "grilled" look on the back of the housings (clear part should be face up BTW)
B) when breaking the seal, take your time and do not touch the front of the housings. Getting that silicon back off that is a huge PITA.
C) if you get part of the way around and feel like you are using ALOT more force, put it back in the oven before you crack something

and almost forgot
D) DO NOT BE IN A HURRY TO PUT IT BACK TOGETHER. Otherwise you may end up with a FINGERPRINT on the freshly painted part of the housing. Will drive you nuts.

Went to a so called great shop in the area n paid serious money for molding. N all that hit well the only thing that came out good is my molded wald trunk. Color match was awesome but forgot to paint part of my rear lip black and the mold job was medicore at best. Next time I want all my shot written down on paper on exactly what I want and dona walk around. Cause when i got my car back I had a broken stock exhaust. A ding in my door. Crack bumper lense. All the above

blacked out housings: melted the lens on my fogs.
lesson: if your not good at keeping exact time, use lower heat and REMEMBER to keep checking on it. i ended up using a heat gun the next time around

Changed my front brake pads recently and then noticed my passenger side slide pin was seized. Did everything I could to budge it out, no luck. Then suddenly I remembered I forgot to re-grease the slide pins when I changed the pads last time around.

Rotors needed to be replaced and now having a seized caliper gave me a reason to finally go through with a BBK upgrade. If everything goes as planned, should be doing the change next week.

I did this but caught it after only doing the front.... The guy I bought them from said that thats where they belong.... I was naive but it was my first time modding a car and did everything myself from the intake to the nitrous kit.. Id say I did an alright job.

Another one I just thought of: a few months after installing Nokya 2500k bulbs for the fogs, the connector fried. After I had my tech repair it, I bought another set of Nokya 2500k bulbs, and of course the connector fried again. Fortunately, the connector was still usable so I am now running 3000k HID bulbs. I prefer the 2500k though.

I replaced my fog lights to yellow and didn't screw the driver side well enough. A few days later I smell something burning then I found out it was that bulb dangling and burning the plastic under the fender.
