Default IS mod/upgrade horror stories you know

Please post them here. Pictures would be a bonus. What would be even better is posting the solution to your problem! You know, just in case someone would need it.

No pics but when I installed my coilovers, I over-torqued a bolt on the rear driver side lower control arm. Had to hammer out the bolt which took a while. I was so happy my dealer got me the bolt the next day so my car was out of commission for 3 days.

I actually meant it to help those not make the same mistakes. Some might be to afraid to ask for help if something went wrong. We can all learn from them. Hence the reason I asked for solutions.

there are a number of 'horror' stories:

1. rims: ppl who call tire direct (or other large company) and speak to a rep who says 'yes it'll fit lexus' = stock or almost stock offsets when they get them, is FAIL. People with 350's or have big brake kits and dont get a R (high) disk front rims = wont clear the brake caliper, is FAIL.

2. HID conversion: ppl who put in a HID kit cuz their car didn't come with HID lows and don't silicone/grommet the hole they drilled into the cover = allows condensation/water buildup in the headlight lens housing, is FAIL.

3. Nav hack: even if the nav hack has been well documented here ppl still manage to mess it up, is FAIL.

4. knock off body kits: ppl buy not real deal JDM kits and they dont quite fit perfectly, or when they try to fit it (thinking they know what their doing) they crack it, is FAIL.

5. mirror puddle lite led swap: ppl trying to take off the mirror and use too much force and crack the mirror, is FAIL.

these are 5 main 'horror' modding stories here, all of them is user error and could have easily been preventable by 'asking someone first'... but many guys want to 'surprise' their friends and/or think they know what their doing...

OH YEAH one BIGGIE here, everyone wants to run low with aggressive offset rims, then they mess up their front fenders their first day/first week they drop the car, is FAIL... hell theres plenty of guys here that should know better and are still messing up their fenders

my horror story is a daily horror.

I'm constantly rubbing my 3 month old anceltion lip. I already have rock chips all over it. I cant leave my house at night without my car getting caked with little bugs. I cant go over speed bumps. I cant go in and out of lots of entrances to businesses. I know it's the price of (IMO) looking good but sometimes I just wish I had a big SUV so I wouldnt have to drive like I'm on thin ice.

haha

Not really a mod...

I screwed up when I ordered my clear bra. I assumed all the 2IS were exactly the same without changes. They all looked similar to me.

I bought the 2007 clear bra for my 2010. When it came to the bumper... I was in holy ***** mode. I had to make my own cuts with scissors and razor. Some parts had to by sacrificed like the bottom portion.

Someone on here once made the mistake of putting the rear lower springs on the front, and the front on the rear lol. They even made a post on here asking why the front wasn't lowered but instead so high up
