hey just wondering i got my 5k service done about 6 months ago and since then only drove about 3k miles and i was thinking about getting an oil change just to be on the safe side. Would i have to reset the oil maintenance light? Since I'm assuming the light would come on around 9,500 miles or so.

As to changing it after only 3k miles/6 months, it depends on the type of driving you do. If you make a lot of short trips where the engine never gets to spend any time at operating temp you probably ought to change every 3 months regardless of miles, certainly by 6 months.
If you make infrequent, but longer, trips with it then it'd be fine to change 1/yr if you only put 6k miles on it like that.
