Default Best way to reinstall side mirrors (puddle lights mod)

Today i spent quite a bit of time on installing the LED puddle lights

i did the driver's side using the method where i unscrew the two outer screws, user a credit card to separate the outer part of the mirror, and try to slip the puddle lights out.

when i tried this method on the passenger side, i couldn't fit the mirror back together and had to snap out the mirror, unscrewed all 4 screws and take the entire mirror apart.

after both methods, i feel that taking the entire mirror apart had much more control because trying to separate the the mirror with a credit card kinda felt like i was going to snap something

however, for removing the entire mirror, the worst part is the snap the mirror back on. The top part is easy as they hook on, but you have to somehow keep the mirror mechanism from moving behind the mirror in order to snap the bottom back on.

What i did was i put a small wrench behind the mirror, where the head of the wrench will keep the mirror mechanism from moving, but the handle of the wrench won't prevent the mirror to snap back into the housing.

Just wondering how you guys snap the mirror back in? i spent quite a bit of time trying before i thought of the wrench method

what's the fastest way to snap the mirror back in?

Hmmm..I would assume to push the mirror into the housing, while bracing at the same time?

I change the bulbs without taking the mirrors off.

i prefer not to take the mirror out as well
but unfortunately something prevented the mirrors from snapping together.. and therefore i had to take the entire mirror apart in order to fit it all back together

bracing with your fingers wouldn't work cause while your fingers are in behind the mirror, it'll also stop the mirror from snapping back into the housing cause the fingers would be in the way

I just hook the top and put even force on both sides of the bottom of the mirror. I just make sure the mirror is tilted all the way down first.

putting the mirror back on is easy, best way is to hook the top and firmly push *snap* it back on... i've done it dozens of times for CL members...

+1 i Agree ^. Just hook the top and put the screws back in. Make sure the lens is properly aligned

i had the same issue...the driver's side was cake, but the passenger side mirror gave me some problems. but i was able to fix it after a little while without taking the mirror off. i just applied a little extra pressure when holding the housign together and tightening the screws a little extra tighter than usual to close the gap in the seam and that worked...was a pain though at first..

I meant brace the mirror house, the whole fixture not the location where the mirror snaps into.
