key fob range, where's the antenna?
So I like the fact my used IS lights up the mirrors as I approach, but the range is borderline useless (I'm already at the car).
Does anyone know where the receiving antenna wire for fob is located?
It was easy to extend the range by soldering an extension wire to the antenna on my old Audi. I would assume it to be possible here as well.
Any idea where they put it?
thanks

Vince, I used to have an Audi too, and the situation here is not the same.
You'll find that key fob receiver in the Lexus already has a ridiculously long range -- I can unlock the doors or trip the panic alarm from across a large parking lot, or from inside my building at work by pressing the buttons on the fob.
I think what you are encountering are the proximity sensors that intentionally limit range and detect where (in and around the car) you are standing, so that an intruder cannot open the passenger door while you are standing near the driver's door, or cannot open the trunk while you are a few yards away talking to a neighbor.

^^^ That make sense.
There is a diagram of this inside the owner's manual and where the sensors are in the car and a general map of the frequency range. It will not work once you are out of that range.

I want to increase this proximity range by a good ten to twenty feet over stock, but still need limited range for start button activation.
I'll check the owners manual. Didn't know they showed the actual sensors and locations.

Understood, thanks for the warning and clarification.
