Default Old Parts...

So I just read a thread awhile back about replacing the spark plugs at 60K. One guy said replace them at 100K and another said to replace them at 60K. I was just wondering, what do the service shops do with the old parts after they replace them? What if the old parts still have some life in them, say for instance the brake pads with another 4mm on them of good use. Do they resell parts or just scrap them? Just wondering about that.

Random post....but you throw them away IMO. You can actually change them whenever you want, every 5k if you wanted to but it'd be a waste of money and time. I did mines at 50k but will probably do it sooner cause I'm boosted.

I assume (and hope) the old parts are recycled. Not many people would be interested in putting brake pads at the end of their life on their car. People also use old spark plugs to shatter windows.

metal, they usually recycle because it's cheaper/more environmentally friendly to recycle metal than it is to process new metal.

same cannot be said for paper, plastic, etc.
