ROFL. Shoes are worthless now. DS Jordans are coming back retro cost cheaper than the DS price posted.

Word of advice from a fellow ex-collector. Sell your shoes ASAP.

That was a pretty corny video though. HAHA

I can't imagine shoe investments being so easy, though. If it really were that easy, one would imagine more people jumping all over this sort of thing.

Hedge fund managers dream of netting anything > 12% return on investment per year. > 12% is a big deal.

If one could easily and reliably turn $50 shoes into $500 profit, then where do I sign up? Not saying this is beyond the realm of possibility; I'm just saying I'm very skeptical that this sort of ROI is the "norm."

Anybody want to give me a crash course on shoe investments? I'll be willing to buy a single pair < $200 if you can reasonably guarantee that it will be worth even $225 in a year or so.

Hell, I won't even wear them, this will be purely an experiment. I'll keep them in pristine condition - boxed, never worn.

If it turns out that the shoes are worth $50 in 5 years, then so be it.

I would tend to agree with this sentiment, but collectibles are a special case of behavioral economics (people are obviously not behaving rationally when paying that much for shoes, especially when it's well above MSRP). You also can't really compare collecting shoes to hedge funds. Finding a sucker on the street or through Craigslist to drop a few hundred on some shoes is much easier than finding price variations in securities (or whatever the method may be), especially given some form of the efficient-market hypothesis.

Anyyyyway, I somehow doubt Josh paid for all his mods by flipping sneakers. What's the real secret Josh?
