And do Non AFS cars not have the AFS light in the cluster at all? Or its just blacked out because it's not used?
Am I understanding you correctly, the fix is to change out the AFS computer? The very first thought into my mind is cost. This headlamp kit is already expensive enough as it is and adding another computer to is sure isn't going to help matters any. No, I never considered the idea.

Is there any specific questions anyone needs answers?
Not sure if someone answered this:

If I have aftermarket HIDs, which kit would I get? I would prefer not to lose my investment on my HIDs...

Also, it seems like the LEDs are on when the headlights are ON? This seems to defeat the purpose of these.. as I'm assuming that they were designed to mimic Audi's LEDs. Shouldn't the LEDs be on all the time except for when the turn signal is activated? Or on only as DRLs and off when the main headlights fire up?

That would be neither, because the housing doesn't use the same bulb type you have. So your investment would be lost if you want to upgrade. Also, the LEDs are on just like they are if you were to buy a new 2011 model. Only difference is they're at 100% brightness with the headlights on instead of just 50% like the 2011 model.

Darrel,

Is there any chance at all that the price tag for the 2011MY Headlamp Kit (Halogen to HID/LED) will come down anytime in the near future?

I reeeeeeeeaally want this kit, but can't justify spending $2800 for this upgrade (or $2500 with my headlight housing trade in).

If I'm not mistaken, I believe he said he just used a 2011 flasher, as in its just revised from the previous model year versions.

Default Simple Halogen Upgrade?

Settled on a 2011 IS250 AWD and so far fairly satisfied with the choice. However, coming from a 3-Series w/Xenons, one problem that really bothers me is the relatively poor headlights. I’ve read many threads in this forum about “upgrades” but most seem focused on moving to HID or LEDs…

What is the latest word on improving the Halogen headlights for those of us that would like a straight-forward fix or simple bulb replacement?

Thanks,
Bob

The answer to that is to go back to a BMW or hell even an acura TSX or TL. The lights on our IS x50's are ****. Literally ****ty. Lexus comes off as a premium vehicle but failed at creating a good headlight projector. pisses me off.

I agree. I did a retro on my 4Runner. I installed a set of Acura TL projectors with ZLW clear lenses. I also did a retro on the fogs and installed a set of Hella HIDs. Now it's like daylight when I drive at night
