the older versions of the nav you had to press I agree EVERYTIME you started the car. I had it in the 07 IS I had and it was super annoying not sure when they got rid of it but it wasn't in the 09 I had

^ Added cluster stuff?

9.1 and up gets rid of the "I agree" button in the Gen 5 nav.

So, if I have a 2007 IS 250 AWD, what upgraded disk do I need. Is it what is called a Gen 5?

Yes, Gen 5, ver 10.1

Sewell sells them to CL members for a discount ~$175 plus you can get another $50 off for sending in you're old disc (ver 8.1 or 9.1).

"Search" is your friend. It's also in your owner's manual. Some people who are 'all thumbs' seem to have trouble removing the face plate, but it was very simple to do on my car. Popped right out.

can the dealer upgrade the NAV without buying the disc? Or is it cheaper just buying the disc? Also some of you guys who already upgraded are you willing to sell the disc? Also how can I tell which version I currently have?

The dealer would perform the upgrade the same way -- by replacing the disc with a newer version.

I'm pretty sure Club Lexus sponsor Sewell has last year's disc (9.1) on closeout for $92. (Check their closeouts section)

oh so the disc has to stay in there? it doesnt just upload the data off the disc onto your NAV?

How can I check the version thats on there now? Its an 07 and I bought it used last april. Im sure it hasnt been updated since the car was made but want to make sure.

Correct - disc stays in. I think you can figure out which version is in there now by looking through the menus. Just be sure you do NOT press any menu item button that looks like an EJECT button while the face plate is still on. I'm not sure if it would hose it all up, or not. I'm not going to try it.

EDIT: Oh, and you can find out exactly what areas have been updated on each version, on the MYLEXUS website. Just look around.

Press the "MENU" button, then the "Map DVD" button on the top right of the screen. You'll see the version there. On an '07, I expect you'll find map version 6.1. As CWS cautioned, be careful not to press the "Eject" button on that screen, or you'll need to pop off the clock face (using the special pair of pin tools in the toolkit) and re-insert the DVD before your nav will work again.

I believe if you are correct about the 07, then the version 6.1 does not qualify for the trade in with Lexus... Crap!
