Default So its almost service time

So my warranty is up and i am shopping around for an extended warranty. I am almost at 52k miles and I am thinking about the 60k service. I heard one user say to 'dont ask for the 60k service" because they will charge you the premium price lol. So what do I need to ask them? I'm also due for an oil change.

I think the most expensive part of the 60k service is the spark plugs, and there is a DIY on replacing them yourself in the DIY section. I've also got the 60k coming up, and my dealer quoted me prices ranging from $670 to $860 depending on what all extra I wanted done (they split it up in to different "packages" like adding fuel system treatment etc.). You can look in your owner's manual and it has a list of everything that Lexus says has to be done at the 60k service.

^^^^ I just dropped my car today for the pedal recall & valve spring recall. For the 60K service i was quoted at 400 something then told him nahhh he then came back said he would take 100 off so i said OK....I beat the crap out of my IS so i figured prob best to do before my next track day.

^^^ Dang, that sounds like a good deal! My dealership is the only one in the area, so they get away with charging a premium for things. The next nearest one is over an hour away. Once I go off warranty I'll probably start using someone other than the dealership. There's a couple of Lexus certified shops around town I think.

Sadly if you'd decided you wanted an extended at 49k instead of 52k you could've bought the Lexus one...

Anyway, I'm the one who said don't every ask for the X miles service.

At 60k you'd need the following done:

Spark Plug change
Brake fluid change
Oil/filter change
and
Cabin and engine air filter changes (do these yourself, they take 5 minutes each)

I need an oil change anyway. The last time my oil was change it ran my about $60. So i will cleverly as them about the spark plug and brake fluid change.

Yeah that's a little beyond my skill set too, but I thought I'd let you know just in case.
