It's your car and your money, do whatever you want. I have no say if it's lame or not but IMO I would spend that money on something else.

Your car, your choice, but you will rarely open your hood to show it off, so it's hard to argue the fact that the original cover is so much more expensive...

isn't it lighter if you don't use it? not often we pop open our hood and show it to other. I don't think is worith the $$$ to spend on, rather buy others mods.
