Default FYI... Tire Rotation on your IS

I was just reading the 2011 IS manual and found this...

Size: 126.4 KB

I check the tires and found that they are non directional tires.

Are they directional tires? My michelin ps2 is non-directional.

i dont know much about cars but for tire rotations, can you just swap the front tires and wheels to the rear or do you actually have to take the tires off the wheels and remount them inside facing out etc?

yes if you have a staggard set up (front wheels smaller than the rear wheels) you must swap them from side to side *unmount and remount* if their directional tires.

If your tires are non-directional then you can rotate side to side. You can check your tires if its directional or non-directional. If you see an arrow on your tires facing forward rotation or if its says left or right then your tires are directional and you can't rotate side to side. You need to dismount and remount your tires.

I have an AWD model so no staggered wheels, can i just move the front wheels with the tires still on them to the rear without remounting them and vice versa?

Lemme make this simple:

IF YOU HAVE:
4 wheels/tires of the same size and non-directional tires:
(AWD 250s will usually be like this)
You can rotate all 4 wheels

IF YOU HAVE:
4 wheels/tires of the same size and directional tires:
(AWD 250s with certain tires)
You can rotate only front-back on the same side of the car

IF YOU HAVE:
4 wheels/tires of 2 DIFFERENT sizes and directional tires:
(most RWD 250/350s are like this)
You CAN NOT rotate at all without dismounting and remounting the tires, which isn't worth doing.

IF YOU HAVE:
4 wheels/tires of 2 DIFFERENT sizes and NON directional tires:
(some RWD 250/350s with some tires)
You can rotate wheels, but only left to right on the same axle.
