I wouldnt do it. Plasti dip works well on small items. Larger items will probably show imperfections. If you want a matte black lip, why dont you just get it vinyl wrappyed? That option is completely reversable too.

I agree.
IMO when using pasti dip for automotive, it should only be applied to emblems, trim, small parts..Anything bigger like body panels, should be painted, or vinyled.

Works great for winter wheels and holding up fine so far.

Kudos to you guys for ignoring the exact same nay-saying comments (and non-constructive criticism) and expanding the use of the product. If it doesn't work, or you don't like the results I'm guessing you are probably out less than $10; Seems like it's worth a try (on many items) to me.

Although I haven't utilized the product (and may never participate), I support you guys trying new things. I definitely don't mind hearing about the failed attempts or negative side effects, but having multiple people say they don't like the product (or that they think you are utilizing it "too much") doesn't really add anything to this thread.

So, in conclusion...kudos to you! Good luck! ...and keep us up to date on your success (and horror) stories!

theres nothing wrong with new things and from using plastidip myself, doing a whole body part is just way too much imo. its half assing it in my book. if you want the flat black look for a lip, get it painted. it would cost no more than 100 bucks. the rule of thumb is do it right the first time.

anyone try white plasti-dip for starfire or GFM? something tells me it will clash.

I want to "delete" the chrome grille, but i think the black plasti-dip for the isx50 2010+ grilles dont look too great on light colored cars. 06-09, different story.

dont use it to try and color match anything, it will not work. plastidip gives a matte like finish. what are you trying to "delete"? i plastidip'd my front emblem to black.

i want to paint/plasti-dip over the chrome grille surround on my white 2010 IS. however...

the IS 2010 grille doesnt look good plasti-dipped black on a white car because the grille surround flares out in the corners...the end result doesnt look nearly as good as it would on a 06-09 IS...i would be quick to have a shop paint the grille surround in factory paint, but the car is a lease...looks like im stuck with chrome.

sorry to re-use this pic from another member...see what im saying with the 2010s? what do you all think?

^ I agree. I saw a local do his '09 ('06-'08 was the older style) in black and those corners just look too awkward and he went back to OEM chrome.
