Looks good....but the plastidip is for a flat black look and your paint outcome is more matte black.

Trust me, over time the Plasti Dip just looks like nasty *** uncleaned tire, blends in too much with the tire

I only got through the first 13 pages of this thread, but this is a very cool mod. Does anyone have the part # for the can of plastidip they bought (for the emblems/grill)? I'm thinking of picking up a can from home depot. Looks like I just found myself a weekend project.

Ok thanks. I wasn't sure if there were different part numbers. Some examples of emblems I've seen are very dark gray, some others look pure black.

My car is SGM, so I'm hoping the plastidip shows up as dark gray as possible to match my paint.

the darker ones are probably the people with more coats on it. ideally you should put about 4 coats on. obviously the more you put on, the easier it is to peel off though.

Thanks guys. What's the best way to prep the surface (both the L emblem and surrounding paint/inside emblem)? The 'L' for good adhesion obviously, and the surrounding paint and inside emblem for easy peel off.

I just washed the emblem and let it hold, no prep at all and everything is still holding fine.

How about the paint surrounding the emblem? Did you have to wash/wax that before, or strip the wax?

Nope I just washed everything with rubbing alcohol to make sure there was no grease/residue and taped around it and sprayed.
