DIY - Matte Black Emblems - Plastidip, no emblem removal required!

overspray >>>> think of it as those little dried rubber glue particles that come on the back of postcards or cereal box toys....swirl your finger around the rubber bits, and it comes right off - no scratching, no removal liquids needed.

Plastidip on USB
here's USB... with enough coats, i did 4, overspray came off easily without affecting the spray on the emblems, and didn't have to use a toothpick, but just my finger for the in-betweens... i'll post a better picture of the front later...
Much props to wearegiant for the idea and writeup!

Looks excellent. Was thinking about doing this in the next few weeks. Did my wheels about 5 months ago and the plasti dip holds up very well! Put it through 10 car washes since I did it and no peeling or any blemishes.
Any tips of tricks you got for the door handle ApokC?

1. Clean the surface area
2. Lock car, and pull the handle out, then mask underneath it
3. Cover those little black LOCK buttons on the door handle too
4. Spray away!
PS: Use many coats! It is kind of hard to get it perfect, just like the window trim. But you can do it!
PSS: Hated the look on the rims after awhile, they tend to get dirty VERY easily and blend in with the tire, making it look like a spare. Yes they held up well, but got dirty and looked ugly...
So I decided to take off the DIP and spray them with a Matte Black DUPLICOLOR rim spray, then a DUPLICOLOR clear coat on top. Looks 10000x better

^^^ yes
First I sprayed like 3 coats on and it chipped easily...
So I decided to sand it down even more than before, spray 3 more coats (total of 6) then 4 coats of clear coat
Now it's good
Just make sure you sand the rim down very heavily, scratch it up! Also get the chrome emblems sanded down too

Ya very easy... all the time spent was either in jacking the car up, or waiting for the paint to dry
Jacking my car up is kinda hard from the back because I cant get it centered due to my F Sport exhaust, so I have to align it carefully to the left a bit
