Got a second hood, what to do...

Hey guys, my car is going in to the shop tomorrow to get my hail damage fixed (finally). The hood is being replaced, so I'm going to have a second one kicking around (thank you insurance) and I kind of want to make a bit of a project out of it. I have a TP car, so I've thought about doing the black out along the hood lines to follow the roof that's already vinyled black, or maybe going with the Di-Noc to match my grill?
Any ideas of what else I could do with this? I'm going to need to fix and repaint the hood in the first place myself, which is going to be a body filler massacre, which is fine. I just want to do something with the old one with some spare time. Any ideas?

Haha, my other car already turned into a massive Plastidip experiment last spring. A successful one too!
Too much rice is what I'm worried about. I've thought about doing a fade from black at the windshield to TP at the grille along the hood lines. Except I don't know how to do paint fading. Maybe a bulge or something out of filler like an M3 or IS-F.
Has anyone attempted to actually modify their hood before, and had good results? Not including the Canadian Tire/Pepboys vents & scoops
That guy from Russia, (Marat7?), comes to mind...

^^ true, there will absolutely be another one coming. They come around every summer and destroy cars.
But, insurance will be around then too
Are their any materials that would be a bit more resilient to cracking? Say Bondo? I don't really know how to work with fibreglass, has anyone ever tried?

you should cut out vents like the m3 http://www.modbargains.com/CF-Hood-Vents-E9X-M3.htm
and if you carbon vinly just the hood, it looks kinda weird
