Hyper Yellow Halogen DRLs: 100W or 65W?
unfortunately ontario law does not permit dealerships to turn off the DRLs for me
i don't wanna put HIDs just for the high beams
i can't go with LEDs as i use the high beam function often due to where i live
heard from other CL members that white/blue halogens still give off the same stock yellow light when running at 30%
so my only hope would be hyper yellow halogens
does anyone have experience on these bulbs?
i see that there are 100W and 65W types
will both work on our stock connector?
the nokya ones say they recommend the nokya connector.. and it says 9005XS.. would that still work on our stock 9005 connector?
100W:

65W:

any pics of hyper yellow halogens installed as DRLs would be appreciated!

as long as the bulb no.'s/types match up, a yellow halogen will work on the oem connector. i would get the exact same or as close to the same wattage as you can to the oem bulb also-i've heard of other members going for higher wattage bulbs and end up melting the harness or damaging the fixture in other ways. i'd go with the lower wattage of the two.

Go with the 65W bulb, or one close to the stock wattage. It wouldn't matter which bulb you had when running it as a DRL, because I believe the current is regulated by the DRL system (so I don't think adding a 100W bulb would make any visible difference whatsoever).
The problems will come when running the higher wattage bulb as the high beam, as it will draw more power and produce more heat. This might pose a problem for the factory wiring and the headlight housing as the OEM system wasn't designed for a 100w bulb. I'd say keep it safe by only running the 65W bulb. . . Just my recommendation though. . .

thanks for the info guys!
i'll definitely go with the lower wattage one
i saw that someone on the IS300 used PIAA 8000K as their DRLs and it seemed to have gotten rid of the stock yellow?
or maybe it's just the picture that's misleading the eye?
and i'm not sure if IS300 DRLs run at 30% as well as i've heard they have a full power DRL mod (dunno what that is)
but if this is indeed running at 30% this might do it for me to get rid of the stock yellow!
or has other members tried these halogens already and can conclude that in real life they're still similar to the stock yellow?

hmm 2IS 'R' US here is using the nokya yellow bulbs and they still look pretty similar to the stock yellow in the daylight

i guess if there's not much of a noticeable difference, i won't change them
hate it when i spend money on a mod but people are telling me they REALLY don't notice the difference lol

thanks for your replies guys!
do you guys mind posting pics of your hyper yellow DRLs running at 30% power?
is it similar to what 2IS 'R' US's pic looks like in my link above?
i guess we can't get it to look as yellow as this lancer right? the lancer probably has it in full power? i guess they have full power DRLs?
