Default This is getting old...

So in January I bought a "certified pre-owned" IS350 with approx. 40k miles and an extended (to 100k mi) factory warranty. I bought it at a dealership.

Since then I have had to take it in for recall work on the pedals, and the valve spring recall. Outside of that recall work I have also had to take it in to have the sunroof motor replaced, the entire gauge cluster replaced, the navigation unit replaced, and the timing cover and camshaft housing replaced (which required the entire engine to be pulled out and stripped apart).

All of this work was covered by warranty, but my car has been torn apart and rebuilt now and it just doesn't feel the same.

Like so many other people, I'm upside down on the car so I don't want to trade it in.

Does anybody at what point Lexus would consider a buy-back?

It's part of your state law, but a lot of times it has to be the same issue and it must occur a few times within a given period (i.e., 4 times in 6 months). I remember someone going through this process maybe a month ago and posted it on these forums.

With all the problems you are having, are they giving you any free services? Free big maintanence (15k, 30k, 45k, etc...), free detailing, floor mats, etc... I know I had a problem with scratches that were under the clearcoat, they tried to detail it out twice, I was told they would take it to an autobody, got a call saying they can't, went there and spoke to the GM, they took it to the autobody and because of my inconvience, he gave me my next big service free; he offered though, I didn't ask.

good thing you got the warranty !!

I'd just keep it for another 20k-30k and then sell it. I mean at this point, you may no longer love the car but it IS still an IS350 with Nav and someone will buy it with 60k-70k miles for 15k. I imagine it's an 06 and I'm hoping you didn't pay more then 26k for it...

Lexus wont buy it back unless they've had 3 attempts at the same problem and couldnt fix it. I'd say just keep it until the warranty expires and then get rid of it.
