Just unscrew the 2 outer screws, jiggle the lower housing little bit, then the light will drop down and u will be able to swap the LED. There's no way you can break anything this way.

I see them now but the oem are terrible. Time to get some new ones. Is there a way for them to come one when you are close to the car with the fob? My wife has a new gx460 and lights turn on when you walk by it.

It might just be me/my car but I think they only turn on when the car is locked or at least that was my impression when I tested it after I installed my LEDs.
