Smokyis350 1/4 mile runs
update runs on page 2 and 3
Went to the strip for first time today in my IS350. It was around 70-80 degrees here. I took off my spare tires and had 1/4 gas tank.
My best time was 13.994 and worst time was 16.624
The 16 seconds run I could not get any traction. I spun from 1-2nd gear. I had the traction control off.
The rest of the run I left traction on and just smashed on it and got 13.99-14.00 @ 99.9-100 MPH. The best run was my last run with 13.994 @ 99.760.
Mods: F-sport exhaust
Nvidia midpipe
Tein CS Coilovers
F-sport sway bars
19 inch wheels with 275/30/19 Hankooks v12 on rear
Full GFX kit, roof spoiler, OEM rear spoiler (I might want to consider taking these off next season)

Sacramento speedway.
I was expecting mid 13s in this weather and my mods. But the traction was just not cutting it.
How do you even do a mini burn out to get the dirt off?

Sport 4 is just the same thing as drive. I just prefer to put it on that probably because I am use to highway runs.

The problem is almost entirely rooted in your 60 foot times.
First, as a general rule, for every .1 second reduction in 60 foot time, your 1/4 mile time reduces by twice as much.
The IS350 is capable of getting 1.9x 60 foot times. You reduce your 60 foot by .3 seconds, you will reduce your 1/4 mile by .6 seconds (and end up in the 13.4 range).
I suggest you read through Raralith's 1/8 mile topic in the racing forum -
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sto...-tracking.html
He's doing 1/8 mile, yes, but over the course of a few weeks he's drastically improved his time (particularly his 60 foot time). His optimal 1/8 mile runs are equivalent to low 13 second runs in the 1/4 mile. Read through his topic.

Also, I'll tell you right now that the best runs are always achieved with traction control off. Always have traction control turned off. Check your tires to make sure there is adequate tread.
edit: And by 1.9x i really mean basically 2.00 flat. I said 1.9x to emphasize the fact that your 60 foot times have much room for improvement, and that in turn will improve your 1/4 mile times 2-fold.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but s-4 isn't the correct decision. From my experience, if you set your gear limiter above 1st gear, you lose power because the transmission shifts earlier because it wants to reach your desired gear quicker?
Either way "d" has been proven faster.

those 60' times are atrocious....I've gotten a 1.7-1.8 on stock tires.
are you going though the water?? I dont do that if im not on my drag setup. ITs pointless and probably causing the loss of traction on street tires.
you dont need to do a burn out, just spin the tires once to get the grit off.
leave it in D and NORMAL ECT....brake to about 1200 rpm (dry tires, grit free) and floor it.
Come on, man! I know you can do better than 14-16 seconds.
