Kenwood DNX8120 Install
Many of you were asking to see some shots of my new Kenwood install, so here you go. A little background: I did not purchase the factory nav unit package for my 2008 IS250. I first had installed a FlyAudio Flagship, replacing my AC/HVAC panel with the FlyAudio Unit and leaving the stock 6 Disc CD Changer. That got old, so I took out the CD Changer and installed a duel display FlyAudio and Kenwood DNX8120 system. All sound and stereo was funneled through the Kenwood, and the Flyaudio was mainly just used for touch screen AC controls and Visual GPS. See pic.
I didn't like how poor the Flyaudio screen when compared to the Kenwood, so I opted for a "cleaner" look of just one double din. I put the stock AC/HVAC panel back in and sold the Flyaudio. I had Cartoys custom make me a dash piece to make the Kenwood look more flush. By the way, this dash piece is very difficult. It took the shop multiple tries to get it to actually look and fit right. Kind of irritating really. Anyway, check out the pics. I've very happy with the install now that's its all done and my subs are pumping.

Regardless, you should be good now. Thanks for the heads up!

I think what he means is a pic of your current setup with the problem HVAC controls and the Kenwood on the bottom. There wasn't a problem with the pic size before.

What I did was replaced all the 6.5" speakers with Alpine Type R ones and pushed them through a JL Audio 4-Channel amp. I also got two alpine Type R 12" subs and powered them with a 450w amp. I had two 450w amps but they were too much for the Lexus electrical system. Plus the 450w amp hits hard enough anyway. It is a little different with the stereo so low but not hard to get used too. I should mention that I completely bypassed the factory amp. Make sure you get a double din with an adjustable angled face. Oh and yes, the EQ on the Kenwood allows for great flexibility for tweaking tones. Subs hit quite hard.

Yes it was a horrible process. First cartoys tried to match the greenish/copper dash color but it was impossible. Then we tried matching it to the black color of the stereo, but it looked cheap. The best color was to try to match the silver/grey of the glove box. That worked pretty well.
