Man, that sucks big time, your building management should be responsible for all the damage that the rats may have caused in your car. Moreover, thay should find some exterminators and have them fulmigate the entire garage...

damn i usually dont mind rats and mice but if this **** happend to me i would exterminate every fkn rat in a mile radius!
first thing you should get your car checked out and make sure there is no serious damage. besides a few wires, i dont see what else they couldve eaten....sily rats always chewin on somethin!

i think it would be pretty safe for you to ask to switch to a better parking spot for free. im pretty sure the apartment complex would compensate you with this at the very least

Late for a warning now I'm sure, but here on the west coast, you see stuff like this you want to be sure to wear protective gloves and an N95 mask when cleaning that stuff up. Beach water as well.

We have had several cases of HantaVirus (transmitted by mice and rats) Basically a fatal disease left by the urine and droppings.
Again, the virus is considered fatal, so caution is always the measure of the day...

The Pacific Northwest has had a few cases now so we are on the alert to avoid the bedding and droppings...

Just an FYI

Vince

damn, that's kinda scary to see. rat must've been there for some time to accumulate all that white stuff. i spotted a rat crawling underneath my front bumper, and i immediately checked to see if it had gone near the hood. but those pics are awful. hopefully the repairs won't be so much and that the rat problem in your area will be eliminated.

damn dude, sorry to see your pain. i would be pissed as hell if that happened to me. check to see if your insurance will cover incidents like this. maybe they can pay to fix the wires and have a shop give your car a diagnostics test or something. just a suggestion. hope it goes well.

Oh dang, I did not know that was even possible ! And some days I'd be lazy to roll up my window when I park it in the garage. Bad idea especially how this can happen, those sneaky pests !

I had a guy that used to come around and spray my yard on a maintenance contract. One day we got to talking about rodents just to chit chat (he actually became our friend) and he was telling me that rats will go after the radiator and windshield wiper fluid. The smell, the taste (sweet) and the WATER is what attracts them to cars (yes, it is poisonous to them) as well as the warmth of the engine. What you see there with the white insulation is what he described they do. But it takes TIME. The rat has to go back and forth several times to get that much material there, shape and disperse it where she wants/needs it.

More than likely the hoses were chewed through as well as any wiring while searching for the right "well". Was there any fluid leakage when you started it up and all the lights displayed?

Oh and FYI. He told me that a rat typically will have 7 babies. There might be some young ones in there.
