Damn, sorry man...rodents can do a ton of damage to a car, and it actually happens more often then you would think...
We usually see this happen when it gets colder out...the animals seek out engine bays simply because they are warm...they make nests where ever they can, lots of times it's on the A/C filter, but I have even seen one in the engine valley of a V-6 4Runner...they only go in there over night, and they will scurry when they here noise, they are not going to go along for a ride...and we have seen babies multiple times as well, we found about 12 dead baby rats under the center console of a 07 Tundra once...
What really sucks is that once they get comfortable, they start to seek out food and water...they can chew through coolant lines, wiring harnesses, fuel lines, windshield washer lines, really just about anything...major damage and very large repair bills when this happens...
Good news is that your car insurance will 100% cover this, and all you will pay is your deductible...I would call them ASAP and send them the pictures...your landlord is not liable...once you get an OK from your insurance, take it to a Lexus dealer to have it fixed right...
Good luck...

sticky traps are horrible, they will chew off their own limbs to escape. use something that will kill them instantly. either a rat zapper or snap traps. I found chewed up bits of foam behind some panels this weekend, but havent had any issues with the car or weird smells yet. I'm gonna have to set up some rat zappers in my garage.
