Default Will towing by flatbed trucks damage your wheels?

Hey guys, sorry to post here if it's not the right place, but with my recent rat incident, I have to have my car towed to the dealership. I will request a flatbed tow truck, however, I heard that towing via flatbed will still have the possibility of damaging your wheels. I don't know if that's the case, and if any parts they strap on will damage the wheels at all. Can anyone comment on this, and if anything I should watch for? Thanks!

Wheels should be fine. I would watch out for front and rear lips being scraped on the ground though. Removing them prior to towing would be best.

^Yeah. When they flatbed your car, they hook onto your spindle/control arm.

Your lip might get scratched though.

If you're too low they might not want to take it or not be liable for any damages. You may not even be able to request a flat bed or pay for it. good luck! Dealer may mess with you if you have too many aftermarket stuff. good luck

I always thought flatbeds were the safest bet when it comes to towing any car. Sure beats having your car dragged on its front wheels. Is there a better option out there?

If you are too low, see if they can fit the jacks that go under the wheel.

tell the drive that you car sits really low and he'll work it out...last time i had a blowout on the freeway and had to be towed the driver busted out some 4x4s and nudged them on the ramp just enough not to scrape, very happy about that :P

flat bed should be ok. They might need boards to get your car in properly without scraping or scratching up your front lip. Just make sure they don't scrape up your rims when tightening up the locks when they lock down your rims/tires.

Everything went great, not a scratch on the rims or the lip, the tow truck driver they sent actually does a lot of exotic car towing, so he knew exactly what my concerns were. Used board blocks to put under my wheels, and also juse towels to wrap my wheels where they use the strap to lock down the rim. Great work by Abrams towing!!

Glad to hear it went well... Why you needed it towed to the dealer? Something wrong with the car?
