there are no easy power upgrade paths for the 2IS, at all~ so... if you like speed and can afford it, 350. If you like going show then get a 250, cuz the money not spent on the 350 can be used for mods like air suspension.

Neither the IS250 nor the IS350 can be modded to make more power. If you want to get an IS250 or IS350, plan on having stock power/acceleration. There is literally nothing you can do to make the cars faster.
There are no mainstream turbos or superchargers for either cars.
One thing you can do, however, is add nitrous, but I wouldn't recommend it.
If you want a car similar to the IS250 or IS350 that has tremendous (relative) mod potential (400 whp+) then look at the 335i. "Tuning" (increasing the boost pressure) on the 335i will, however, decrease the life of the engine, and it's not at all clear by how much because modded 335i's have not been around for that long.

Between the 250 and 350, it all counts on your budget since you shouldn't buy what you can't afford. For a new car, you can save a good amount of money by sticking with the 250, and if you are mainly into suspension and bodykits, you can easily buy all those accessories by not buying the 350. Buying a used car, I can't see a reason to buy a 250 unless it was dirt cheap because you can get a used 350 for considerably less than new. Personally, I bought a used CPO 350 because I need/want the speed, and I'd shoot myself in the face if I bought the 100 less HP 250 for a few thousand less.

Most would sacrifice interior color for speed, but I just wanted something nice to drive around.
