I got the recall notice a couple weeks ago. So far that's all I have, no $500 or $1,500. I scheduled the service (1/18/11 was the earliest available) and was told that as of right now my powertrain warranty is still 6/70k...

Does anyone know how long this recall work is warrantied for? 10k miles? 15k miles? If you have 99,999 miles and they do the recall work and extend your warranty to 6y/100k miles, certainly the recall work is not covered for only 1 more mile, is it?

The work should be warrantied for the life of the vehicle. When I had the service bulletin completed for the engine crank noise. The service guy told me that it was warrantied for the life of the vehicle. So I guess this should be too.

Just got back from my having my service recall work completed. So my question is what is the purpose of extending the powertrain warranty? I thought maybe it was a way to warranty the recall work plus.

The purpose is to make you feel warm and fuzzy about Lexus despite having had to take the car in for a recall, at very little additional cost to them

Lexus owners keep laughing at BMW owners with HPFP failures now we got a bunch of recalls for Lexus..Too bad they don't get a free tank of gas every time they get a recall done.

Yes, but the Lexus ones are generally for things that don't actually fail, or nearly never fail (0.2% failure rate on the valve springs....0% failure on the floor mats if you use them properly... 0% failure on the brake fluid thing is you use mfg brake fluid, etc)... versus the...considerably higher... HPFP failures on the BMWs.

Nice. Lexus just sent me a $1,000 December to Remember discount card. Exp 12/2010. Cannot be combined.

Edit: This is just a $1,000 coupon towards the purchase of a new car. No cash value. This offer is probably available to most good Lexus customers, no associated with this particular recall. My point was the $1,500 recall-associated voucher isn't uncommon.

How are you guys getting all these gift cards? Does it have anything to do with registering on Lexus Drivers' website or is it linked directly to recalls?

Default $500 Lexus Loyality Card

My $500 Visa card finally came in mail yesterday.
It's good for one year at any Lexus dealership.
