My wife was in the market for an RX350 to replace her 10 year old Subaru Forester. We got the $1,500 certificate in the mail last week. We dropped down to the Lexus store in San Antonio and made a killer deal on a closeout 2010 RX350. Deep discount, plus the $1,500 certificate, plus used $600 of points accumulated previously on my Lexus Visa card, and they let me put $10,000 of the down payment on the Lexus Visa card which will net me another $500 of credit towards service and parts. All in all, the RX was about $8,500 off MSRP. Lexus has been good to me.

Default how lexus takes care of a (veteran) 2is owner...

picked up the mail after coming home and saw the valve spring recall notice. no surprise here.

what was a surprise was getting the following letter from lexus corporate:

On behalf of everyone at Lexus, I would like to thank you for being a part of our Lexus family; and like any family, when one member faces a challenge, we band together and support one another.

We recently sent you a recall notice to replace valve springs on your 2006 Lexus IS350. We apologize for any incovenience this situation may cause you, and will do our utmost to minimize the impact to your time.

To give you further peace of mind and confidence in the quality and durability of Lexus vehicles, we are providing you with a complimentary 6-year, 100,000 mile power train vehicle service agreement through Lexus Financial Services (LFS), providing you with added benefits during this coverage period(1). In the next few weeks, you will receive a letter from LFS with more details.

In addition, to demonstrate our gratitude for your loyalty and your ongoing support, we are enclosing a $1,500 certificate towards the purchase or lease of a new Lexus vehicle. The certificate is valid for one year from the date of this letter (OP's note: letter was dated 11/5/2010).

At lexus, our top priorities are your safety, your peace of mind, and providng you with the best customer experience in the industry. Again, thank you for your patience, and, most important, thank you for being a loyal Lexus family member.

(1)Coverage expires upon reaching 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first, measured from the date the vehicle was first delivered into service as a new vehicle and zero miles.
and yes, said certificate was enclosed.

while i haven't given much thought to the next vehicle that will replace my 2is (the list is short, but consideration at this point is premature), this has certainly given me something to consider if/when i decide to replace my 2is.

please note that i don't know if anyone else has or will receive this notice, as this may or may not be for only those who are first and current owners of their 2is. however, this at least shows that despite the recalls and TSBs (and even some of the negative cred that's been passed around in the 2is community here) lexus is still putting its customers first.

thanks for reading.

Let me know whether or not calling Lexus will do anything. I got the letter in the mail and I'd rather have the $500 to spend on some Sewell items.

^ duly noted.

sometimes there are just too many posts and threads to sort through to get any semblance of (useful) information.

can the moderators can merge this with the one Micaiah linked? thanks in advance.

Does the giftcard allow you to spend the money on any Lexus dealership?

Will Sewell accept the gift card as a form of payment for their websites?

Guys don't flame me but I haven't seen anyone in my situation. I have an appt for this Thursday for the valve and pedal recall. I bought my car from a private dealership. It was not CPO and didn't have any warranty. Do u think I will be eligible for any of the benefits u guys are getting? I want to ask hoy fox Lexus about these before I drop it off. Some of these replies are clear as mud. Thanks guys. I have 70k miles

While these are nice gestures one should remember the car already has a 6 year power train warranty from the factory.

They're only really extending that from 70k to 100k miles.

Nice, certainly, but not mind blowing given they're trying to assuage people with quality concerns... and I at least will have an 8yr warranty on the car anyway since everything outside the powertrain is so crazy expensive to fix.

The $1500 thing annoys me more than anything... it's great, but it's only good for 1 year... I know dealers make lots of $ from folks who trade in every couple years, but I'm not one of those.

I'd quite likely want to buy another Lexus, but not in the next year. I'd have much rather seen a 5 year expiry date on those things... so again nice, but not really helping me at all.

That is pretty nice of them! Too bad 3IS wont be out in time to use that $1500 haha.

But lately, i have nothing but hatred for LFS... Terrible customer service regarding my lease transfer (on week #6 and still on step 1, but i'll save my breath unless anyone cares haha).

you should get the letter extended your warranty, probably not the gift card

make sure you're registered on lexus's website so they have you in their records
