while i haven't given much thought to the next vehicle that will replace my 2is (the list is short, but consideration at this point is premature), this has certainly given me something to consider if/when i decide to replace my 2is.

please note that i don't know if anyone else has or will receive this notice, as this may or may not be for only those who are first and current owners of their 2is. however, this at least shows that despite the recalls and TSBs (and even some of the negative cred that's been passed around in the 2is community here) lexus is still putting its customers first.

thanks for reading.
Got the same letter yesterday in the mail. Still waiting on the $500. Glad to see Lexus taking care of its valued customers.

Just dropped mine off today for the recall. Got a nice ES350 as a loaner too.

Nice, certainly, but not mind blowing given they're trying to assuage people with quality concerns... and I at least will have an 8yr warranty on the car anyway since everything outside the powertrain is so crazy expensive to fix.

The $1500 thing annoys me more than anything... it's great, but it's only good for 1 year... I know dealers make lots of $ from folks who trade in every couple years, but I'm not one of those.

I'd quite likely want to buy another Lexus, but not in the next year. I'd have much rather seen a 5 year expiry date on those things... so again nice, but not really helping me at all.
I'm not understanding you but I admit, I haven't really done the research. I've had my car for exactly 5 years and I have 60k miles on it. Last month, before I got the recall notice, I considered my car completely out of warranty, pretty much nothing is covered any longer. Are you saying I still had a 6 year warranty all along?

I don't plan to hit 100,000 miles, either I sell the car prior or it's 7 or 8 years down the road. So for me, 6 years is the spot. This recall I thought gave me another year's powertrain warranty that I didn't already have, are you saying I had it all along? And the real benefit is until 100k miles?

Also for everyone, is this $1,500 certificate transferable? I can't use it.....

ETA: Just read the certificate again; transferable only to a household member. That's lame.

Not just me saying it, Lexus says it-

http://www.lexus.com/models/IS/warranty/index.html

Click on powertrain warranty.

The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
72 months is 6 years.

The only thing you're "gaining" here is the extra mileage, not any extra time.

Yes, but the enclosed letter from Lexus says the $500 credit thing (actually gift card) is coming later.

I called Lexus and they were less than helpful in providing any other options but to say their gestures are complimentary. While I realise they don't really owe me anything, personally I find little to no value in what they have offered and unfortunately I am somewhat dissatisfied with Lexus for the first time since 2005. I will follow up with a letter and depending on their response, I may express my dissatisfaction thru the appropriate channels.

I hope they would send me the $500 gift card but in the recall letter they didn't mention about that

It seems there are different levels of consideration given; some get $1,500 cert. + $500 gift card, some get the certificate only, some get the certificate and extended warranty. Not sure what the criteria is to determine who get's what.

Yes, Sewell took my $500.00 (or $499.xx to be exact ) without trouble through the website. I think the only issue might be for orders over $500, which could probably be rectified with a simple phone call.

Good luck.
