Default Newbie help - Is this a good deal?

Hey everyone,

I've been lurking on this site for a bit, as there is lots of good knowledge and helpful people on this site. Now I'm hoping some of you can help me! Just sold my G35 tonight I'm in the market for a used 250AWD, and so far I've found one that looks promising:

http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/cto/2013044010.html

I already asked the owner and it doesn't have ML, so clearly its not fully loaded as claimed, but it does at least have Navi, and low miles. Claims no accidents and one painted fender from a fence scrape. Sooooo....any input? Should I negotiate, and if so whats reasonable? Anything else to look out for? Thanks!

If you came from a G35 steer clear of the IS250. Trust me you will like it at first and want to sell it within months. 250's are waaaayyyy underpowered and you're G35 will feel like a Corvette compared to it. Find a good Is350 and you'll be good, the price difference is not significant.

For reference I just bough my 2008 IS350 with the sports package for $29,500. The car also only has 8500 miles on it, still has the pastic over the door sill plates.

Does not have the memory seats either, which means no telescoping steering column. And no collision avoidance.

Boy, for 11k miles that front seat sure looks a bit worn....

Car looks good, only 11K, very low for an 08... I agree that the 350 would give you more power, but you are in NY, and the AWD will come in handy. you should offer anywhere from $25 to $26K, my advice to you is ask seller to provide carfax and more importantly bring your own mechanic to inspect the car, he should be able to tell you if it has any visible sign of a previous collision.

Thanks for all the help guys. 516IS why would I ofer 25-26, he's only asking 23,500 Definitely gonna check the Carfax. And yeah, whats with the seats being beat up, Ive looked at tons of IS's and don't see any correlation between mileage and seat condition...its like, does it take one fatty sitting in it to mess them up? And can anything be done to recondition them?

Any more suggestions? Thanks!!!!

Did you ask him why he's selling it? And just because I'm OCD,...

I'm wondering if he used the car for work or to transport a lot of heavy things. The rear passenger seat has a good sized stretch mark (baby seat?) and the drivers side rear has quite a bit of scratches on the plastic paneling along the side bolstering.

Gawd... I feel like I'm criticizing your car. Please forgive me. I'm just picky.

Haha no worries! You bring up good points, and I need objective opinions. You see a car you want, and then the rose-tinted glasses come on...

I'm just thinking that a big hit to take for 23500 on his part. Just make sure it not a scam.

Something not right about the ad, the RX in the back doesnt have plate either.

The ad said "x-package" which isnt. and DVD but it doesnt say ML on the system...

I'd like to see it look alot cleaner for 11k miles interior looks kinda rough and it is wierd that both cars dont have plates?

I dont see the xpkg anywhere but looks good for that price. IMO
11k miles in 2 years means the car isnt for daily drives.
He claims he has Xpkg but no sports petal and not sure but doesnt xpkg comes with xpkg wheels? (correct me if im wrong) which means hes lying (wonder what else he lied about)
KBB says value is 29k and hes making it even lower. so maybe its too good to be true?
Just my thoughts though...
