500 more miles, what to do???
My 07 350 is setting at 49,500 I have 500 more miles to make up my mind if i want the extended warranty or not. Im not the type of guy that buys warrantys, never have, but i do plan on keeping this car at least 3 or so more years. I just dont know if a 1,600 dolllar gamble is worth it or not...... grrrrrrr....

At least 3 more years as in more than likely to keep it for 5+ years? If that's the case, I'd buy the warranty. A lot of people say they will keep a car for 3 years, but sometimes they 1) get a better job and get another car 2) their situation changes (communite, pregnancy, family, etc...) and get another car, 3) drive quite recklessly and will more than likely reck their car, etc... If you think you honestly will not be keeping it until something else better comes along, I would suggest saving that money, and using it toward another car.

I just went through this same thing on my 07. I went ahead and got it. I looked at it like this. $1600 for another 3 years of worry free driving was worth it. There are a lot of electronics on these cars and if a sensor goes or a window motor goes thats a couple hundred right there. Not to mention the larger items like the Nav, or the trans if it goes at 80K, ext.

yea better safe than sorry, that 1600 would go a long way if something serious were to happen, u just never know. And anyway i think 1600 is a steal, i shutter to think what the stealership (we got one dealer only, they can price as they please since there is no competition) in the UAE are gonna charge...

I think you should make a poll..
But I wouldn't get the extended warranty. Our cars are pretty reliable. There are a lot of TSIB and recall but those are covered with or without the warranty. There has been people with high mileages and haven't have any major problems.

Correction- Recalls are covered regardless of warranty status... TSIBs are not covered outside of warranty.
(you might get a dealer to do one as a courtesy, especially if you spend a lot of $ on routine service there, but the TSIBs themselves are explicit that they are only free during the vehicle warranty period)

If you got the extra money I would say get it... not having to worry about how much its gonna cost to fix if something breaks is a wonderful thing. Its the whole reason I drive an new car. Then again chances are that you are not going to need it as long as you keep up with services.

an extended warranty is only a benefit if you dont think you'll have the money to fix it if (and if being a key term) the vehicle breaks down.
You are basically betting that something will happen to the vehicle that is going to cost more than 1600 dollars. What if it doesnt? then your out the difference in cost or maybe the whole 16 hundo if nothing breaks at all.
What if it does? then you win. chances are though, nothing of significance will happen even under the extended warranty.
It's always a gamble, but if you think you'll have plenty of money to cover a repair if it does break then dont do it.
If you consider that you might be slim in the wallet in a couple years, do it.
