Downsize to 17" rims
So,
I tire of the 18 staggered setup and the annoying ride it is giving me, so I'm going to be moving down to 17" rims a little sooner than I planned (was to be a late winter project with summer tires).
The Enkei PF01 is available in a 8.5" width and 40 offset, or 8" width and 45 offset.
Can anyone tell me if I will have problems with the 8.5"/40 setup all around, or should I stick with the 8" and 45 offsets?
No plans on lowering from stock.
Many thanks
Vince

Just a heads up we have a thread for wheels with one for "will these fit"
You can find it here
But to answer your question, you can safely fit 19x8.5 +35's all around with absolutely no rubbing so doing a 17x8.5 +40 will give you no problems whatsoever. You can probably do some +30's at that point without a problem considering how much wheel space you'll have. Granted if you did some basic fender mods you can push that even further. Hope that helps you out.
*Edit*
And it looks like your cars not lowered so that's even more room to play with. A local shop near my place runs 18x9's all around on his 250 awd though I never quite asked him his offset. Judging by that they're originally purchased for an evo and them not being all that aggressive I'd say they're +35 to about +40 from a glance.

Thanks,
Found the thread pretty worthless....lots of writeups on garish 19' and such, very little attention given 17" other than to identify stock sizes.
8.5" with 40 offset will allow what tire size without rubbing issues? 245/45 all around?

A downside of buying aftermarket wheels is that wheel models come and go and it can be difficult or impossible to find a replacement wheel if you ever trash one. I'm in that situation now and wish I had bought a second set of OEM Lexus wheels for my snow tires instead of now impossible to find Mille Miglia Bellos. Maybe you can find someone who wants to trade his 17" IS wheels for your 18" wheels?

Kudos to you Kuugi!

Have you considered stock 17x8 IS250 rims? The 225 width tires are a better fit on the 8" rim that the 8.5" rim for normal driving (ie not "stretched"). Also, you don't have to mess with hub-centering rings (a pain every time you rotate your tires) or unavailability of the aftermarket wheels 2-3 years from now.

the stock 17" is also for the 350, the cars actually come with 17" to begin with, the 18" are options
with ANY aftermarket rims on the 350's make sure it has a Rdisk (high disk) face in order to clear the front brakes... the width and offsets aren't whats the problem (as long as only keeping it modest).
