Hmmm. My 2011 IS350 maintenance manual is different than the 2011 IS250 one. I checked the hardcopy book I have and the one online. It looks like I only get the 30 days / 1000 miles and the 6 months / 5000 miles visits for free. I looked on the next page and it doesn't continue with "Complimentary Third..." or anything like that.

Use the following chart to determine your maintenance schedule:
30 Days 1000 Miles [3]
6 Months 5000 Miles [1] [3]
12 Months 10000 Miles [2]
[1] For synthetic oil vehicles, this service, excluding maintenance required for special operating conditions, is complimentary when performed by an authorized Lexus dealership.
[2] For synthetic oil vehicles, this service is complimentary when performed by an authorized Lexus dealership.
[3] For non-synthetic oil vehicles, this service is complimentary when performed by an authorized Lexus dealership.

If that's 10k in 18 months because you take a short roundtrip every day (ie 7-8 miles each way) then I'd change it every 3 months regardless of miles and use the cheapest oil you could find (non-synthetic) because your engine is never getting to run at operating temp and burn contaminants off the oil.
If that's 10k in 18 months and you take a 200 mile trip every 2 weeks to get there (which sounds more likely given you "don't drive it often") then change your synthetic 1/yr regardless of miles and you're fine.

I just got my IS 350c 2011 and I plan to do 1000 miles oil change. I don't care what people say but I am stilling going for it.
My friend did his IS350 around 1000 miles and we did see lots of "metal powders" came out from engine oil drain. I know modern engine doesn't require this change but I just don't feel comfortable to have that kind of stuff inside my car. I plan to do 1000, 4000 then every 5000 miles after that.
I don't feel comfortable when dealership touch my car so I am going to pass 2 years free oil change but I will go back to dealership for 5000 miles check up. Free oil change? no thank you. I plan to drive this car for 15 years so I rather to do it good than do it right.
If you say I am crazy, I will take it because I love my IS.

They said the Service Light still comes on at 5,000 and that I still come in for the Tire Rotation.
