Default VAIS iPod Integration

I just bought the VAIS SL2i-UP iPod integration kit for my nav system in my 2009 IS250. I did a bit of research and it looks like I can work the iPod off of the touch screen from the Nav system. My next move is to buy the Nav override kit so I can change songs when the car is moving. I hope I made the right move here. Can someone please let me know if I made the right choice?

Thanks you guys! I may make the move over to the SL2iC when it comes out. I was looking at the video connection from the iPod and it looks pretty sweet. I think it would be great for long trips and my wife would prob like it too. Before that, I need to get the nav override system.

Thanks again!

I just installed the same model in my wifes 06 IS350 and it was really easy. I also did the navigation hack which also was really easy. Here are the links that I used to educate myself.

Don't let it scare you as long as you are halfway mechanically inclined. It works great!!

Did you do the nav override mod as well? If you did, how is that working for you? I think I may be too worried about messing it up or voiding the warranty if I did something like that.

Yes I did the nav hack. It works great and only adds just 15 minutes to the install. Just make sure you get the small wire caps ahead of time. Also use a 90 degree pic or screwdriver to help pull the vent assembly out once the four tiny clips are in the down position.

It all looks hard, sounds harder, but is really easy. Just take your time and it will be fine.

Boy that takes some ***** to do! If it works for you than thats GREAT!!! I think I will try the expencive way out of overriding the NAV system without having to cut any wires. Thanks for the links!!! I'm going to try to install the VAIS kit on my own this time.

You only have to identify two wires, cut them, cap two ends and tie the other two together. Simple and costs about $1 for the caps.

Default Dice I-Out Cradle, Audio/Video Pass Through Solution

Lexus Owners,

Dice has released a cradle that will retail at 99$ that will pass through the i-pod screen out to any aftermarket LCD (to Nav systems with an additional harness) giving you control with a remote, also passing video. The product is new and in beta but has tested very well. DCR-200 I-OUT. I think this might be a nice alternative to what I see here. This product Will be available for purchse 1st quarter 2011. You may want to wait fot this....you could have an ipod/video a/v pass through solution running on your rear view lcd.....LOL....(watching a movie in your review mirror while driving, not good.....hahahahha)audio/video cables will need to be used and ports need be accesable, but from our early testing we have not have had many issues...also we are authorized apple dealers so passing the audio/video through to an aftermarket LCD is legitimate, dont have to worry about any possibel recalls, lawsuits, etc....all dice products have an embedded apple handshake chipset. For a rear entertainment solution with an iPod there is no other better solution for the price bottom line. My buddy has an Acura with the same Nav system running in the Lexus and is passing his video from his iPod to his Nav screen, very cool. He can also view the iPod screen and has control witht he remote for his audio solution. Works awesome.
