you are right, if you dont file a police report it wont show up on Carfax then you can lie when selling your car and hope the buyer doesnt find out =/

+1. This is why I never buy a used car. Carfax and autocheck is not 100% accurate.

You need to bring a professional mechanic with paint meter when you buy used cars. But that won't guaranteed that the car hasn't been getting beat on daily.

No it has to do with your insurance company, they file with the state.

You don't have to worry about someone beating on a car. What people term as "beating" for there daily drivers isn't beating these engine can take alot more than what you think, I'd love to show you beating with my MR2, I'll do think to it that you'll think the engine will pop but it doesnt.

Beating as in flooring it with a cold start, doing burnout, neutral dropping, the list goes on. That is definitely not too good for the car.

Also maintenance is important. Who knows when the last time they got a oil change done?

Burnouts cold start revving is not going to hurt the car. As long as there is oil in the car it will survive

You don't go through your insurance. Insurance varys from state to state but all have to report damages based on certain costs of damage, which also vary from state to state
