I will take possession of a 2006 IS250 next week and am excited to be joining the Lexus community. I've previously driven a Honda Accord (college), a G35 and now a G37. I realize I'm taking a step down but it's worth it based upon my situation.
I am replacing the tint on the vehicle as the front windows have started to bubble near the corner by the rear side doors. I will also be replacing the tires with new tires.
Other than that, what would you recommend? My budget is in the $5-600 range. I'm looking at purchase and installation of a rear spoiler and the Joe air intake/filter. Any other recommendations?
On my Infinitis, I usually lower them and add suspension parts first but both of those vehicles came well tinted and had spoilers. I do enjoy a lowered vehicle that doesn't scrape but can still ride the rails well. I know I'll be hurting for a few HP after the G37 but also realize that w/o forced induction or spraying, I'm getting poor return on my investment with much of anything else.
Would love to hear your thoughts and look forward to being a valuable part of this community. Thanks!

I had Eibach lowering springs and Stillen Sways on both of my Infinitis and really enjoyed the handling. I'll definitely look into the F-sport sways.

Is that really ~60 or ~$600? Do most people get HID's in the headlights or the fogs or both? Any particular brands recommended more than others?

It really is around $60. Hidextra makes a pretty good kit I've installed in my IS and family RX for foglights. People run both hid for lows and fogs. You can do any combination of a 6000k or 8000k low and a matched fog or just 3000k fog. Depends what you're looking to achieve.

Well, a 2009 Infiniti G37 with 17,000 miles on it and 298HP (stock and I had a few goodies but never dyno'ed it after installation) vs. a 2006 Lexus IS250 with 70,000 miles on it and not quite 298 HP... we'll see. The vehicle is loaded with plenty of goodies and has every upgradeable item except for the Marc Levinson sound package. I'm excited to drive it, see what it can do and learn more about a new brand of vehicles.

well... imma gonna hate to say this but... coming from G's to a 250, the HP is gonna be a big let down... cant you swing it for a used is350? because the power difference MIGHT be too big to overcome and COULD~ how can i say~ leave a bitter taste in your mouth...
course if HP is not a problem, some of the finest show 2IS we have here are 250's

Welcome to CL. Hopefully you won't be looking for hecka HP gains. Appearance gains are plentiful and I'd check the classifieds section for used parts. Coils and sways are awesome. If you can settle for springs, I hear H&R are one of the lowest. Good luck with your new ride!

Get an IS350, slap on F-sport sway bars, and call it a day. You might be surprised to learn that down low the IS350 is actually faster than the G37. The IS350 is "torqy-er" and has a much flatter power band. The G37 is too peaky for my taste. Don't get me wrong, the G37 is a powerful machine, but the way its powerband is shaped makes it amenable more for higher speed, track-appropriate performance.
The IS350's grunt is more tuned for daily driving/passing.
It's much stronger than just 102 HP over the IS250, for a variety of reasons which I won't go into (unless you want me to).
Give the IS350 a thought before you jump on the IS250. You can probably find a similarly priced IS350 for what you're paying for the IS250 (though it'll have higher miles).

Honestly the IS250 is a fantastic car.
The only reason I'm pushing the IS350 on you is because you've had a taste of the G35/G37. If not for that, the IS250 would be more than adequate.
IS250 0 to 60 = 7.5, 1/4 mile = 15.5
G37 0 to 60 = 5.0 flat, 1/4 mile = 13.5-13.7
IS350 0 to 60 = 4.9-5.1, 1/4 mile = mid 13s (ranging from 13.2 to 13.7)
The ranges for the IS350 and G37 coincide, though the IS350 has a much stronger 1st gear (relevant to daily driving).
Anyways, give the IS350 some thought.
