Default Tire Sensor problem

hey, does anyone know if there was a tire sensor recall or anything? I have been having problem with my tire sensor, not sure which tire, but it keeps going on and off. I had each tire's air pressure checked to make sure i didnt have a leak, and everything was right on. I've noticed it usually comes on when it's cold outside. I dont know if maybe when i got my car serviced maybe the mechanics messed something up or what? It's really irritating! Just wanted to see what some of you thought before i took it in the dealership.
Thanx!

did you check the spare tire? and sometimes when the air is cold, the tire pressure goes down. maybe u might have checked the pressure when the tires are warm therefore giving a false reading. try filling your tires to the recommended level (located on the inside of the door jam) when the tires are cold. that used to be my problem until i realized its better to fill the tires when they're not hot

The spare tire does not have a sensor in it.

Remember that tires lose roughly a pound of air pressure for every 10 degree drop in temperature, so you'll want to check your cold (before driving) inflation pressures on a chilly morning to make sure they are in range. (see pressures on the driver's door jam; for 2006 it is 35F, 37R.)

why would my spare tire go off? is it hooked up or something while in the trunk?

When i took my car into a local tire shop, i asked them if they could check to see which tire maybe has a nail or something in, but before they did that they checked the pressure in each and filled them (they went by the door jam numbers), and it wasnt even cold that day and the sensor went off. He said Toyota's have very sensitive sensors, and if it does come back on to go back to the dealership in case it's defected.
I feel like every fall/winter this problem is occurring. I'll refill them today & hopefully the sensor doesn't come back on in a week.
Thanx for your help everyone

If your TPMS is too sensitive you can reset the system. The procedure is explained in your owner's manual. The IS has a mini spare, and as explained above, it has no TPMS valve. However, some other Lexus vehicles with full sized spares do have TPMS on the spare, but again, not the IS.

Your first post you said it was cold? Correct ? It's normal to lose 2-3psi during the cold season. It's not a big deal.
