Wow that maintenance is pretty easy. Looks like nothing major has to be done up to 100k. I checked the carfax and it came back clean. However, there is no record of any maintenance done. The guy is selling for 15k.

Well if he did most of the maintenance himself like most of us do. Then there not going to be a record. As most of us do our own oil change and brakes etc.

I think it depends on where you are. In florida I see alot of off lease cars that have either been wrecked or have super high miles for 15k or less

Do what was mentioned, get a 3rd party inspector to check everything out.

I also say keep checking, 100K seems a lot of miles even for $15K, I would fly to another state if I have to, to get the car that I want at the price and conditon I want.

Exactly, also including 3rd-party Lexus mechanics; which is what I use.

You really can't judge a car based off of its' non-reported maintenance history, especially with these cars. The only thing they could have missed that would impact the vehicle itself would be missing oil changes, and I'd say going on 100K miles that would be practically non-existent. Even spark plugs at 70K is extremely low-mileage; plugs can generally go at least 120K miles.

$15K does seem slightly high though, but it also depends on your location and far you're willing to travel to get a better deal. Remember though, even though the car might be slightly cheaper and only a state away, traveling costs back and forth also cost money - so you may not save practically anything in the end.

I'm eyeballin' a 250 right now from a corner lot. 53k miles, 2007. Still have the remainder of the powertrain warr. Pretty plain Jane, no Nav, no memory seats, no parking sensors, no back up camera. Called Lexus and the last service was done at 10k. Both recalls need to be done still. They wanted 23k and I got them down to 18k. Just waiting for the carfax, I have a feeling it's been hit but he said he doesn't know.

I'd look around more if I were you. You have NO warranty. I'd throw in a few thousand more if you can and get a car like the one I'm looking at (if it wasn't hit).

Yours is nothing better than "his". The mileage means practically nothing. The power-train won't do you much good, and 99.99% sure you won't be using it. The recalls are nothing - I am sure it is the gas pedal and carpet recall; which a lot of cars don't have (including mine) by choice. Want them done? Take it to Lexus and tell them to do it.

My parents, for example, have owned 3 Lexus's and purchased the Extended Warranty option on all of them - they have never had to use it; and the cars are running +90K miles.

To find out if your car has been hit, have a pre-buy inspection done on it by Lexus or a 3rd-party mechanic you trust.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, the regular warranty is out on the one I was looking at, but I guess I was concerned about mileage. But you say it means nothing. The cars last pretty long so I guess that puts it more into perspective.

The recalls that were not done on it (per Lexus) were the pedal recall and the fuel delivery pipe. Heck, I didn't even know it had a recall on that last one. They did say that any Lexus will be able to perform the recall. I was more concerned about it being hit, because of the tell tale signs.

Anyway, I decided not to go for it. My husband told me that if I wanted to get it, I'd have to sell two of my cars in order to have it.

I don't think so.
