Default Quick Question About Tint on Headlights + Tail lights

Hi all, I'm a new member and I have a quick question regarding Tint on lights. I was wondering if anyone knows if it is illegal in NJ to have your lights tinted. Also, weather or not it is better to DIY or to get it done at glass shop. Thanks for the input, I will be posting pics of my car in the next week.

You'll have to check local laws if no one chimes in from NJ, but I'd say do them yourself.

It seems like you're hinting at using actual tint film/adhesive to do this. Unless you want to do this so it can be SIMPLY removed, I would suggest painting. Doesnt fade, and no headaches of the tint bubbling or coming off on edges.

Relatively cheap to do it yourself, and as long as you can use sandpaper and work a rattle spray can, you'll be good. Just take your time.

Whatever you do, just make sure that people can see you in the dark.

Thanks for the input, I think I will take it to a glass shop and go from there. Thanks again.

I would go with the tint film, thats what I did, it's not permanent like painting the lights if you ever think of getting rid of it for some reason. It's best to go to a shop to do this, I bought the film as a DIY and lets just say the taillights are a ****** to get right lol

If you wanna see pics of it done just check my profile garage.

i would not do film and i would not do the headlights. tailights you can do with niteshade. it gives it a blacked out look but its very thin so when you apply the brakes, the light still shines through

Im pretty sure in all states that if your tail lights are tinted and you get rear ended it's YOUR fault. It is also illegal because you're endangering other drivers on the road because you're presence is not as well known. Just like how driving with your night lights off is illegal, even if your DRLs are on. They are not as bright and thus not as safe
