Tire installation (Potenza RE960's)
Is there any way to have new tires installed without having your rims scratched all to hell?? Just got home from having 2 new fronts installed and one of the rims is damaged (caught it at the shop and they are going to help cover it but it is still a pain!) Just had to rant and ask if anyone has advice before I have to have the rear tires replaced.
Also I bought Bridgestone Potenza RE960's and they don't fill in all the way to the lip, hate the way it looks. I thought they would fit to the edge like the OEM Turanzas? For anyone with these tires, is this how they are suppose to look?

Either sounds like human error, equipment or both.
Looking at the the picture, it looks like the equipment that was being used was in contact (marks in question) from my guess. If that's the case I would question the tire mounting machine that was being used becase the parts like the arms do not make actual contact with the rims, unless the person who was controlling them was bad and made contact.

I thought I was the only one to lol.. the shop did something similar to my tires when I got a nail in my tire and the had to patch it... very dissapointed I'm probably not going to keep my oem rims so its not so big of a deal... and I knew there was nothing I could of done about it since I was already gone.

I'm not sure what machines the shop was using, but I took it there in a pinch to replace a tire that had a nail in the sidewall (still not sure how that even happened, lol). I ended up just getting two new front tires since they were worn anyways. I'll never go back to that shop! They scratched both front wheels. They also scratched the wheels near the lug nuts with the lug wrench.

looks like the tire tech was just plain careless.
i just had all 4 tires on the GS300 changed at the local Discount Tires. i told the tire guy that the wheels are blemish free (he came out and looked to verify), and i expected them to be the same way when they're done. when it was done, not a scratch.
