in my opinion you only need 6 mos. to figure out if there is anything wrong w/the car. If you go 6 mos w/o issues you should be good to go for another 250K miles. Its a toyota, I would not buy extended warranty.

Very naive IMO. They aren't built by god. They are built by people and parts fail regularly. Go to any dealership and ask their parts department how much $$ worth of inventory they have in things besides oil, filters, and tires. Typically that number is somewhere near $180,000. Then look in the garage and the $250,000 worth of tools that they have.
They aren't keeping that stuff around for looks or bragging rights.
