Got rear-ended, is it totaled?

Well here in NY, alot of yield signs have the designated lane but people still stop and rear ends happen all the time. I rear ended a sequoia myself at a yield. There was no lane, but the guy stopped, looked and then accelerated and then after entering the right lane, he stopped again for NO apparent reason. There were no cars coming so when he went, I looked to my left and literally drove like 15-20 ft right into him. I accelerated into him actually, never touching the brakes. Because he stopped a 2nd time. It was 100% my fault on paper obviously but IMO, that's ridiculous. I hate Yield signs, I'd rather just have intersections. People don't know how to merge or yield and it annoys the **** out of me

You may want to look up the Motor Vehicle Code, there is a law called the "Assured Clear Distance Rule" In essence it says you can only drive as fast as the assured clear distance ahead of you dictates. What you did is NO different than the guy whom text while driving you took you eyes off the road in front of you while you were moving forward.... BANG... YOUR FAULT

You may want to look up the Motor Vehicle Code, there is a law called the "Assured Clear Distance Rule" In essence it says you can only drive as fast as the assured clear distance ahead of you dictates. Sucks about getting rear-ended. Coming to a stop at the bottom of an off-ramp that ends shouldn't be too hard to do, but some people have other ideas. Hopefully your insurance company can sort it out. At least you were okay, the other guy stopped, and had insurance. I got broad-sided in 2008 and my back is still giving me problems. For what it's worth, I could not get the LAPD to come out to my scene, with three cars involved and one being totalled. As long as no one was hurt, they don't come.
