Someone cracked my mirror cover in a car park and i've just managed to get a replacement cover from a dismantler. only thing is the cover is a complete different colour.

i've purchased an aerosol can of clear coat and the base coat. can anyone tell me what the best method for painting the cover is? should i sand down the cover first? (what grit paper?). should i use plastic primer? (does to promote adhesion?)

Also, I've tried applying clear coat a few times on a test panel but it comes out patchy. Is there a trick to not get it patchy? like maybe wet sand and polish and buffing at the end?

You should try posting a WTB ad in the classified section. I'm sure you'll be able to get a stock OEM cover since many people converted it to LED turn signals.

to actually paint it yourself will be very difficult. it takes alot of skill to paint. your best bet is to either buy it off the classified section like everyone above said, or you should take it to some place to get it painted
