Default Terrible, consistent sqeak from dashboard while driving

I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem - the area where the plastic (on the upper arch) of the instrument panel meets the dashboard emits this high-pitched squeaking noise while i am driving.

If i hold the plastic and the dash, it stops. If i squeeze them together, I can replicate the noise when I am not moving.

I brought it to the dealer, and they said they fixed it by tightening those two bolts above the speedometer / tach that secures the plastic to the dash. It worked for about 20 minutes, but is back to annoying me.

Anyone else have this problem? Fixed it? Superglue?

BTW, I have a '10 IS350.

clip holding the dashboard is probably broken. Warranty it.

I had the exact same problem as you and could reproduce the noise exactly the same way. The squeak drove me nuts. The dealer ended up removing the instrument cluster and adding a bunch of insulation and padding around it. I haven't heard the noise since.

I have the same thing... brought it to the dealer and they "couldn't replicate it"

It comes and goes for me, so next time it happens I'll try and swing by the dealer and take my service provider for a ride to show him exactly what im talking about....

Back to the dealer and tell them you'd like their fix to work for more than 20 minutes this time . j/k, rattels can be hard to track down, but let the dealer handle it.

I had the EXACT same problem. The squeak is coming from the clear plastic window on the instrument cluster rubbing against the dark plastic "arch" area. It took me forever to find out what was causing that but when I did, I slipped a folded piece of paper between the clear plastic window and the plastic arch area which stopped the noise. A few months later when I had time, I brought it to the dealership and they took out the instrument cluster, filed down some of the plastic and placed rubber cushioning all around the inside there. They could easily find the problem because I had that piece of paper stuck in there...lol

I have had the same stupid problem with all 3 of my IS'. It drives me crazy, I have pinpointed the squeak to be coming from the instrument panel/dash as well as the middle speaker on top of the dash. I used to own an honda civic and a ford truck which never made a single rattle for over 10 years...

same problem here now and then. if you press down on areas of the top of the dash it will go away for awhile. Also one member said he stuffed some foam behind the dash in some areas and it went it away. Im going to try that method next

thanks for all the replies - i'll probably bring it back to the dealer next week, maybe i'll print this thread out and save a lot of "in between" steps

My dealer is really good anyways, I am one of the few 350 owners they have so most of them know me by name. Perks of driving a 350 in New England I suppose..
