Does the IS350 RWD handle terribly in snow or is it just mine?

It's simply pressing the Snow Mode button to the lower right behind the steering wheel. I gave that a try but it doesn't do much for me.

probably putting in 100lbs of "something" in the trunk might help get better traction.
Try it out.

One way is to find an empty lot full with snow and start playing with the throttle to see how the car behaves. This would give the driver at the experience he or she may need to know so they know what the car would do.

Yeah, I will sort of try that driving to school tomorrow. I'll tell everyone to sit only in the back rather than having a person in the front passenger seat. I would put that extra weight in the back since my rear wheels simply spin out as if they were running on a dyno, but the problem is that my car for some odd reason only get 14.3 MPG under regular driving. I brought it to the dealers to have them troubleshoot the car but they found no problems. I then decided to switch to Shell V-Power and used BG 44K Fuel System Cleaner, now I'm getting 16.6 MPG after two weeks. I'm just afraid the added weight will ruin the gas mileage and at $3.69/gal, I'll pass on putting extra weight of unneeded stuff.

Nope, it has Bridgestone Blizzaks which are winter tires.

That's actually a good suggestion. There's a 60 car church parking lot across the street from my house. I'll find a day where the snow plow hasn't came yet and drive it every possible way to see how the car reacts and I'll have a friend use my iPhone to record a video so I can see what it does. Thanks for the idea Sango!

u need to stuff at least 200lbs in your trunk to drive in the snow. your bro's civic is fwd with the weight of the whole front end including the engine on top of the driving wheels. your is350 is rwd with an empty trunk and all that horsepower is not going anywhere in the snow.

Snow mode+snow tires+sport mode so you can shift in low gears just like a standard

He has posted about it before... I suggested he fill it up and take a long 300+ mile trip all highway to check the mileage but never saw a follow-up there... if he's still getting 16ish there's something wrong with the car.

An IS350 ought be getting in the 28-30 mpg range all highway driving.

my 2006 is350 i have had no problems like you have with my now tires. i got nexton snow tires they were like 140 each tire. i can move in the snow but i cant take corner too fast on the street or i will slide. thats the only issue i noticed. how do you only get 14 or 16 mpg are you doing 100mph everywhere you go? jeez i do 75 to 80 on the hightway and avg 24-26 mpg depending how cold it is.

I get 27mpg hwy driving, and 23-24mpg mixed city/hwy driving on my IS350.

16mpg is crazy unless you are constantly gunning the car and then breaking or abusing the gear limiters. Do you always drive in S mode or in regular automatic?
