I dont know what "program" they are talking about, but you will not notice a difference in the speed or feel of the pedal

It already would stop if you brake correctly.... brakes beat engine every time.

what the update does is basically have the ECU "ignore" the gas pedal input if you hit the brake at speed.

But FYI, it's your car, you had ever right to tell them no to the recall.

They did it because they don't want the risk of you suing if you experience SUA. Because as we all know people here are always looking to make a quick buck like our hoaxster Jim Sikes and his runaway Prius in San Diego

The dealership I went to told me the same thing - it's a recall so it's mandatory. So I left, came back the next day and spoke to a different SA and she was okay with not performing the recall. Depends who you get I guess.

Worry about what???? The car is not going to blow up or catch on fire. You won't even notice the difference. I've had mine done a few months back and I can't tell a difference between before and after.

did they already perform the work on your car? if not i would still tell them no, my SA asked me if i wanted it and i declined. i ended up having to sign something saying that i didnt want the recall down but now every time i come in to get some work done they still ask me about it...

It's just a "safety" feature that was installed because all of the Toyota's that supposedly accelerated and would not stop. Lexus doesn't want to be sued over more mistaken "stuck accelerators. You should be fine. I did't want it because I have the sport pedals and they cut or replace it with a smaller one that I didn't like.

from what i understand, it involves reprogramming the ECU.

It cuts throttle if you hit the brake.
Say goodbye to powerbraking to launch start.

I declined it.
