Default Drop-in filters

Hey guys,

I was wondering if drop-in filters were really better than stock filters? If so what brand do you guys recommend to go with a Joe-z?

Thanks,

Kai

You won't see any measurable gains, but you won't have to buy a new one each time if you get a reusable one.

stock will filter better than the aftermarket ones. the gains will be negligible.

if you want a filter because you don't want to have to buy a new one each time. then go for f-sport or HKS. just avoid oiled ones like K&N

It'd be worth it to get the F Sport in the long run then so you'd eliminate the purchase of a new one.

I'm a long time believer in K&N, but as most have said, I find the gains mostly in the "never buying another filter" department. Not to mention they have pretty much dominated the racing scene since the 70's.

^^ +1 on the K&N...

I have been using K&N on all my vehicles since '96 and have not been let down with product defects or residual damages (like the old MAF damaged due to the oil)...I have the Joe-Z intake pipe with a drop-in K&N and have had no issues at all...

Realistically, all drop-in replacements will perform about the same...just up to you to decide what brand, and if you want a dry or oiled filter...

I have been using K&N since the 80's in all my cars, the problem with 'oiled' type is usually due to user error, putting too much oil on the filter. Not a fault of the filter/oil.

^^ agreed...guess I should have mentioned that

This is almost a non-issue now with the oil supplied in the easy-to-use spray can...old schoolers remember the PITA oil bottles, and that is why it was easy to over oil the filters...
