I'm a long time believer in K&N, but as most have said, I find the gains mostly in the "never buying another filter" department. Not to mention they have pretty much dominated the racing scene since the 70's.

^^ +1 on the K&N...
I have been using K&N on all my vehicles since '96 and have not been let down with product defects or residual damages (like the old MAF damaged due to the oil)...I have the Joe-Z intake pipe with a drop-in K&N and have had no issues at all...
Realistically, all drop-in replacements will perform about the same...just up to you to decide what brand, and if you want a dry or oiled filter...

I have been using K&N since the 80's in all my cars, the problem with 'oiled' type is usually due to user error, putting too much oil on the filter. Not a fault of the filter/oil.
