2IS = 2nd Generation IS (the IS250/IS350 in the US). MY = model year.
He's spending $1,200 on the new LED headlight assembly that come stock starting in MY 2011. http://is.sewellparts.com/parts-catalog/IS350-2011.html

I'd also like to say that I drove past a MY11 IS and the passenger-side LED strip was blown; driver's side lit up fine. Shoulda did a 180 and chase the poor fellow down to let him know of the fail. Moral of the story for you MY11ers, check to make sure your LED strips are lighting or you'd look like a douche with one working strip.

^ You can upgrade to these for ~$200ish if you're into that small LED look.

Yes, I've seen them on several cars and they look great. They are essentially aftermarket replicas of the IS-F taillights with small LEDs used to get different look.
I know of one person that had trouble getting them installed though. Seems to be plug and play for most though.

Hey guys, I'm new here. Can anybody tell me, what's the difference between the old '06, '09-'10 and '11 taillights? Pics maybe? Thanks!
