Default Completely New Here

Hi everyone,

I'm completely brand new here so please bear with me...I'm coming from a 2009 Prius, which I love, but I've also always loved the look of the Lexus IS300. I wasn't really into the IS250/350 but it's starting to grow on me now. Anyways, I'm not looking to buy an IS at this time, but I'm interested in learning all about this car. That's why I'm here. For now my questions include;

1. What are the differences in packages/colors between years for the 2006-current IS models?
2. What's the general consensus when it comes to IS300 vs IS250/350?

BTW, when I do buy my IS sometime in the far future, I will certainly modify it. I've even made some modifications to my Prius. Tinted windows, JDM rims, H&R sport springs, shark fin antenna, LED lights (interior + license plate), and hyper yellow fogs.

I have over 1400 over on PriusChat.com and I'm hoping to become a longtime member here too. Thanks for the help!

Let me be the first to welcome and direct you to here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...tart-here.html

You'll find tons of good info there. And if that doesnt work, ask away on your own.

I have never owned a 1st gen IS, but i wouldnt go for one now, especially since the 2nd gen IS has been out so long. Before you know it, the 3rd gen will be here (fall of 2012 is general consensus on that).

Thanks! I think you're right about getting the 2nd Gen IS. I'd definitely go with a IS350. Compared with the Altezza, it'll probably be easier to find customer support and a bigger selection of aftermarket parts. It's just that I've always liked the ricey look of the Altezza, its yellow fog lights, and low weight to power ratio (that inline V6 was nice). I feel that Lexus catered the new IS to the older crowd and watered it down. Booooo.

But it still looks good modified... A lot of good information here.

I'm relatively new here also, compared to some. Welcome.

The differences that came with 2nd gen ISx50 is almost like night & day when compared to IS300.

Welcome...It's nice that you're doing some homework on the IS. I own an IS250. Looks great and the same as an IS350. What I would ask myself is "What do you want to ultimately do with the car?" The IS300 is a nice car, but a bit dated and IMO not as nice as an IS250/350. If you want a newer, quick car then the 350 is great. 0=60 times are low (like 5.something). If you want to have a huge horsepower car, the IS300 is the one. You can swap a 2JZ motor in there and put huge turbo's. 600-700 HP can be made. There is even a 1000 HP IS 300 out there. So good luck with what you choose.

If I bought one today it would definitely be a used IS350. But I can't really afford it right now. It's not that I don't have the money, it just wouldn't be the wisest choice for me. That's why I'm willing to wait a long time yet still get well acquainted with the car and it's evolution through the next several years.

This is a cool site, props to you all.

By the way, here's a semi-recent pic of my Prius if anyone's interested, lol. I think I'm done modifying it for now. Thankfully I never threw that much money on it. All of that is being saved up for the IS.
